Real impact

The Africa Urgent Project is not just an education project—it is a project of transformed lives. We are not only training students; we are transforming destinies, and this is evidenced by the stories of many former students who now return to the project as volunteers. They are eager to help, to give back what they received, and to teach future generations what they learned through our program.
One example is a former student who, when he arrived at the Africa Urgent Project, did not know how to speak Portuguese and could not even write his own name. Today, he is a dedicated volunteer, teaching other children to read and write and sharing with them what he learned. He shared his own story of transformation:
“When I arrived at the Africa Urgent Project, I didn’t know how to speak Portuguese or even write my own name. Today, I am a volunteer and I teach other children to read and write. This project changed my life.”
This testimony reflects not only educational transformation, but also spiritual transformation. The project is in a predominantly Muslim community, and many of our former students have become Christians throughout their journey with us. In addition, at all of our events, we have seen the presence of parents and family members who, when invited by their own children, end up receiving the Word of God and allowing the light of the Gospel to enter their hearts.
