Potable Water

Water is essential for life. But the quality of the world's freshwater resources is threatened by inadequate sanitation, agricultural run-off and lack of treatment facilities, as well as disasters and environmental changes. Every 15 seconds a child dies of a water-related illness.
In some parts of the world where women and girls are primarily responsible for finding and collecting water, degradation and scarcity of this precious resource is an even greater challenge. Often young people can not go to school because they have to walk for miles to find fresh water for cooking, bathing, drinking, and other critical needs.

The Assembly of God Ministry of Belém - USA, is committed to ensuring that clean and safe water is accessible even in the most rural communities. In partnership with local organizations, support communities in the development of clean water sources. Our water programs are part of an integrated strategy that focuses on preventing the spread of disease, promoting community health and well-being. Wells, water systems and water stations are built based on local needs assessments and capabilities. Then community members learn how to use and maintain them. In support of our water programs, we help build latrines and promote sanitation and health education.
Having clean water has a tremendous impact on daily life. With these systems in place, people no longer have to spend hours fetching water from polluted lakes, rivers and streams near their homes. Girls can go to school, and women are able to take care of their families and seek education and employment - creating a better future for themselves and their communities.

Construction of wells and piping systems to prevent waterborne diseases Installation of water stations and rainwater collection systems such as tanks that increase access to safe water sources Members of the community training on the use and maintenance of water systems Provide critical education on proper hand washing and hygiene Integrate water programs with appropriate sanitation and hygiene practices to avoid pollution of land and water sources

The Assembly of God Ministry of Belém - USA and its partners work to alleviate hunger and improve food supply through integrated community programs. Working with Church partners and local organizations, empower people to live healthier, more productive lives.
In needy areas, we collaborate with community members to increase access and availability of food. By helping people identify their own unique resources, knowledge and skills, our efforts create long-term agricultural strategies that will help families feed themselves while protecting the environment.
